Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, decided to give up the leadership of the country in favor of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, a favorite among his many sons.
Now the former head of state, al-Thani leave the political scene to enjoy a real emergency, but also to perpetuate the safety of his name in the history of Qatar, after 61-year-old was he who raised the small Gulf state Persian in one of the richest in the world.
In a televised address to the nation, Hamad al-Thani said the time had come for the future of the country passed into the hands of a new generation, more motivated and more ideas, after 18 years of his leadership.
His son will now have the task to manage the immense revenue income from oil exports, but also an investment fund of 100 billion dollars, which currently controls the whole or part of the business of some of the largest multinational companies in the world.
