5-magnitude quake off Italy

A 5.2 earthquake was recorded face Friday morning in Italy, affecting the northern regions of Emilia, Lombardy, Piedmont, Tuscany, Veneto and Liguria.

According to Italian media, verified earthquake ground to a depth of 5 kilometers and has therefore been very superficial.

In some cases, residents emerged from their homes and offices for fear of the collapse of old buildings.

Sources specify that in some areas there were contusions, mainly in some houses which have fallen roofing. Also, one person was wounded.

Seismic shaking was followed by a second oscillation, which is felt even on the first floors of apartments in Tuscan cities Fierence, Karrara, Versilia Livorno, in Turin and Genoa, respectively, in the regions of Piedmont and Liguria.

In the region of Emilia, Minister Josefa Idem had just started his speech at a seminar on equal opportunities, when the building was shaken by strong seismic movements and was immediately evacuated by police.

People have flocked to the streets for fear of collapse of the building, which according to the authorities of the neighboring country has not happened.

Regions affected by Friday's quake are areas with strong seismic character and many times are shaken in recent times. Meanwhile, the old infrastructure of Italian buildings makes them vulnerable to this phenomenon.
